RG-213

RG-213 is a replacement for RG-8. RG-8 was the popular choice in RG CoaxialCable for years. Unfortunately, RG-8 quality is unreliable. RG-213 is similar to RG-8 but is built to Military standards. The improved quality performance is well worth the higher cost. RG-213 has a 95% shield coverage.

Good quality RG-213 attenuates a 2.4 GHz signal at around 0.5 dB/meter. Because of this, it is not recommended to use RG-213 spans greater than 7.5 meters (~3.5 dB attenuation) for 2.4 GHz applications, otherwise the loss is too great for a reliable signal. If you need a length of cable around this length, or greater than this length, you should definately consider using LMR-400 for the job instead.

RG-213 was designed more for signals in the range of 200 MHz to 600 MHz, and one common application is for STL use by FM radio stations.
