A [TNCConnector TNC-Connector] is a [CoaxialCable coaxial cable] connector designed for radio frequencies up to 11 GHz. Although primarily designed for 75 Ohm cable, 50 Ohm versions of the [TNCConnector TNC] are also very common. "TNC" stands for "Threaded Neill-Concelman", and it named after an engineer called Carl Concelman who designed [TNCConnector TNC-Connectors] in the late 1950's as a threaded version of the [BNCConnector BNC-Connector]. [TNCConnector TNCs] are designed to be weather-proof. Most [WLAN Wireless LAN] gear which has [TNCConnector TNC]-style connectors actually use a non-standard form called [RPTNCConnector Reverse-Polarity TNC].
