Switch
See also: Hub, Router
An Ethernet device used to connect multiple Clients, Servers and other network resources together on the same network.
Unlike a Hub, which is a dumb device, a Switch has a limited intelligence. A switch is able to read network traffic passing through it and forward it only to the recipient(s). A Switch is able to determine which traffic to Broadcast or Multicast, a Hub broadcasts all traffic.
